This Drums Intensive is for anyone ready to sit behind the kit and start playing — no experience required. You’ll build rhythm, coordination, and groove from the ground up while learning the language of drumming through hands-on practice. With a focus on popular music styles and real-world playing, you’ll go from basic patterns to full songs, developing the skills and confidence to perform solo or in a band.

Course structure
Get to know the parts of the kit, posture, grip, and first basic beat.
Learn to play with both hands and feet together — kick, snare, and hi-hat patterns.
Practice with a metronome, understand subdivisions, and play steady grooves.
Learn classic patterns used in rock and pop tracks, and practice playing to backing tracks.
Create simple drum fills and transitions between song sections.
Add dynamics and texture to your playing with articulation techniques.
Explore swing-based grooves and syncopated patterns.
Understand how drummers support intros, verses, choruses, and builds.
Learn how to build your own solo and improvise within a groove.
Perform a drum cover or original groove, collaborate with others, and showcase your progress.
