This Bass Intensive is designed for beginners who want to master the foundation of any great band: groove. Whether you’re picking up the bass for the first time or want to switch from guitar or production, this course will help you lock into rhythm, understand harmony from the bottom up, and start playing with others. Each session combines essential technique, real-world groove building, and jamming — giving you both the skillset and feel of a bassist.

Learning outcomes
- Play common bass grooves in multiple styles (rock, funk, blues, pop)

Upon successful completion, you will receive a Certificate of Completion, verifying your professional skillset.
Course structure
Get familiar with the instrument, tuning, posture, and the role of bass in music. First grooves on open strings.
Learn timing, finger alternation, muting, and how to stay in the pocket.
Develop clean note control, shifting, and the ability to locate notes by fret and string.
Learn to follow basic chord progressions using root notes and simple rhythm patterns.
Understand how scales relate to harmony and how to walk between chords.
Study groove patterns specific to key genres and play along with famous tracks.
Apply pentatonic scales and modal patterns to create more expressive basslines.
Use syncopation, rests, and ghost notes to add feel and groove to your playing.
Learn to jam with others, respond to what’s happening musically, and improvise basslines.
Perform a bassline you created or mastered during the course, participate in a full-group jam, and reflect on your growth.

- Bring your own bass guitar (or borrow one from our on-site rental)
- Notebook, tuner, and practice amp recommended for home use
